About Us

The Massachusetts Opioid Treatment Program Training and Technical Assistance (OTP TTA) Center is funded by the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS). We are also guided by the insights and expertise of both our Patient and Staff Advisory Committees, ensuring our work is informed by diverse perspectives and real-world experiences.

Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) in Massachusetts provide treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) and are licensed by BSAS and federally certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). OTPs administer & dispense FDA-approved medications for the treatment of OUD, including methadone & buprenorphine. In addition to medication, OTPs provide medical, counseling, vocational, educational, and other screening, assessment, and treatment services. They meet patient needs with a combination of services tailored to each patient based on an individualized assessment.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to foster innovation at Massachusetts OTPs by providing staff with resources and support to deliver patient-centered care, address treatment barriers, and improve health outcomes. Our vision is a future where all individuals seeking treatment through Massachusetts OTPs have access to equitable, high-quality, and effective care.

Through our technical assistance and resources, we provide OTP staff with the support they need to enhance care delivery, implement evidence-based practices, and address challenges in their programs. Specifically, we aim to help OTPs:

  • Expand access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD).
  • Enhance patient care and improve treatment outcomes.
  • Address systemic barriers to equitable care.
  • Reduce stigma within opioid treatment.
  • Foster collaboration and shared learning among OTP staff.
