DESCRIPTION:Join us for an open forum designed specifically for OTP staff! This session will be about transitioning clients on MOUD between correctional-setting and community-based OTPs. During the session\, presenters will review the Guidance for Coordination of Care for Patients Entering or Leaving Incarceration on Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)\, created by the Association for Behavioral Healthcare’s OTP Committee. \nThe session will be facilitated by Eileen Rush\, MA\, LMHC\, and Tracy Desruisseaux\, M.S.\, LADC I\, CCHP. Rush is the Director of Addiction Treatment Services for the North Charles Institute for the Addictions. SUMMARY:Expanding Access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in Jails and Prisons: Implementation Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Join Jason Faro\, Assistant Superintendent at the Essex County Sheriff’s Department\, as he shares firsthand experience from launching an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) in a jail setting.  Learn how this initiative expands access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD)\, improves continuity of care\, and enhances treatment for opioid use disorder within correctional systems. \nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nHighlight steps involved to increase access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in carceral settings.\nDescribe ways MOUD program implementation in carceral settings is influenced by policy and state requirements.\nName common challenges with program implementation and suggested strategies applied to address barriers. \n\nPresenter: Jay Faro \nJason Faro\, BS\, MS has served with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office since 1998\, rising through the ranks from a correctional officer to his present position. He is currently responsible for the day-to-day operations of the newly formed Specialized Reentry Services Division. Assistant Superintendent Faro currently manages all services that involve medication assisted treatment\, offender diversion programming\, and pretrial reentry services. Current initiatives involve breaking “traditional practice” through the adoption of validated classification methods. Assistant Superintendent Faro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science and a Master of Science degree in Human Services. He is a graduate of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department Basic Training Academy\, Middleton\, Massachusetts and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center\, U.S. Border Patrol Academy Class 284\, Artesia\, New Mexico. Assistant Superintendent Faro also regularly acts as adjunct faculty at local colleges instructing on subjects of criminology\, corrections\, and treatment within correctional settings. \nContinuing Education: Continuing education credits are available. Attendees must complete the event evaluation in order to receive educational credits. \nNational Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC): This course has been approved by the Center for Excellence on Addiction at JSI Research & Training Institute\, Inc. as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider\, for 1.0 contact hours of educational credits. NAADAC Provider #255263. Center for Excellence on Addiction at JSI Research & Training Institute\, Inc. is responsible for all aspects of the programming. \nIndividuals participating in educational programs offered by NAADAC Approved Education Providers are assured that the continuing education (CE) hours provided for each course will be accepted toward national credentialing by the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP)\, as well as many of the individual state licensing/certification bodies in the addiction and other helping professions. SUMMARY:OTP 101 For Community Partners: Collaboration and Connecting Systems of Care
DESCRIPTION:Providing patient-centered care for individuals receiving treatment services for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) requires coordination across healthcare and social service providers. Establishing connections and interagency collaboration among OTPs and community agencies\, such as emergency departments\, skilled nursing facilities\, and correctional institutions\, can support long-term recovery. \nParticipants will hear from Dr. Ruth A. Potee\, a Massachusetts-based addiction medicine physician who speaks nationally on addiction\, substance use\, and the development of the teenage brain to audiences of parents\, students\, medical professionals\, teachers\, school counselors\, emergency medical workers\, courthouse staff\, law enforcement\, correctional officers\, and the general public. \nDr. Potee has tailored this 1-hour webinar to provide key information to providers working with OTPs in Massachusetts.
