SUMMARY:Self-Care in Addiction Treatment: Addressing Burnout and Vicarious Trauma
DESCRIPTION:Feeling burned out? You’re not alone. 93% of behavioral health employees have recently experienced burnout\, according to the National Council on Mental Wellbeing. Join Samson Teklemariam\, LPC\, CPTM for this interactive training on preventing and recovering from burnout\, compassion fatigue\, and vicarious trauma. While staying healthy and self-aware is a professional requirement for helping those in need\, the reality is that many addiction professionals find it difficult to prioritize their own care. This session uses evidence-based tools and interactive exercises to help you assess your current burnout level and create a realistic\, personalized approach to professional wellness. \nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nExamine practical applications for the 8 domains of self-care in addiction treatment and recovery settings.\nCreate an individualized vicarious trauma prevention toolbox that will include prevention skills\, intervention strategies\, and recovery steps.\nDescribe best practices for self-care as an addiction professional.\n\nSamson Teklemariam\, LPC\, CPTM is a nationally recognized clinical leader in Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) and a trusted voice in advancing patient-centered responses to the opioid crisis. As Vice President of Clinical Services for Behavioral Health Group\, he oversees integrated counseling and treatment services across 22 states\, leading the transformation of traditional OTP models into clinically engaged systems of care. Formerly NAADAC’s Director of Training and Professional Development\, Samson collaborated with SAMHSA and HRSA on national workforce initiatives and is known for translating policy\, data\, and evidence-based practice into practical strategies that strengthen OTP teams and improve patient outcomes. \nContinuing Education: Continuing education credits are available. Attendees must complete the event evaluation in order to receive educational credits. \nNational Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC): This course has been approved by the Center for Excellence on Addiction at JSI Research & Training Institute\, Inc. as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider\, for 1.0 contact hours of educational credits.
